It is always argued that Tally is a windows software and it does not run as smooth as it runs on Windows OS. However with the new version of Enjay Tiguin Application Server, Scheduled to be released next Tuesday 23rd, September, 2014. We have proved it all wrong. Does Tally runs faster on Linux ? Definitely yes.
We installed Windows Server 2003 (with Terminal Service enabled) and Tiguin Application Server, on two identical Dell PowerEdge 1950 Servers, and then accessed them through two identical Thin Clients running Enjay Tornado Thin Client OS. The results are mind blowing. Tally runs much faster and smoother on Enjay Tiguin OS.
In our efforts to make Windows Software run on Linux, and help SME customers to save money on Licensing costs, we have always tried to help our customers to migrate to Linux environment as smooth as possible. The number of success stories are proof of our satisfied customers.
When you run Tally on Tiguin Linux, All the features of Tally run perfectly smooth like – clear fonts, full resolution support, Export to PDF, Export to Excel, Tally License Server, Single user and multi user support, Printing support, Remote Access support, Backup/restore options, All Tally keyboard shortcuts and now, it runs faster also.

It seems good. kindly also do comparison with simultaneous multiuser, where one user is saving BRS and other is saving voucher entry. this will test the speed in true sense. As this technology is required only for multiuser only to improve speed performance hence this test actually verifies its use.

Deepak ji,
First thank you for the review and idea. we have already done the same, Actually we have worked a lot on the simultaneous read / write on the disk by the Tally. So that way, when more users put load, Tiguin performs much better as compared to Windows.
This testing was also already done. I would request you to also please download the OS and do trial at your end. I am sure you will be very happy with the same.

Why u have compared it with obsolete windows 2003 32 bit with latest linux
U must have compared it with win 2012 r2 hyperv
This is biased comarision and not trust worthy.

Akashji,
Thanks for the comments.
We had already done that testing, if we run latest version of Windows, it runs even slower, because the hardware requirements are more.
Also from the support cases that we receive, we found that most of people still use win2k3, because they find it to be more stable and swift.
This review was already done with more than few customers and partners.
Anyways, once again thank you for your feedback on the article, it helps.

We also have to understand that the server we are running is also an 8 year old server.

Really it works better. What is the cost for deployment of Tiguin Linux Server.
And what about the printer support for HP/ Cannon/ Brothers. Please help us to resolve those queries too.
And will all client get good performance or not.

Dhaval,
Firstly thanks for watching the video. You may contact our Sales Head Mr. Rahul Athale (rahul.athale@enjayworld.com – 0260-66129525) for more details about pricing and partner model.
Now, regarding your queries:
1. Yes there is absolutely fantastic support for all these printers. (our support team can give you the list).
2. Yes, all clients get good performance. (of course it depends on the hardware configuration, but still the performance is above expectation.)

Good Test ..
Adding both Thin Client Configuration and showing them in Video will add more transparency in benchmark.
Also for sec of argument Why Windows 2003? why not latest version of Windows to compare..
Limesh Parekh
Two things:
The Thin Clients are identical with Atom Dual core 2 gb / 8 gb flash, this we already mention in the video. Secondly, if we run latest version of Windows, it runs even slower, because the hardware requirements are more.

Dear Limesh Parekh,
In benchmarking studies, graphs convey the results a lot better than any other form IMO.
I would suggest you do a full study with all versions of Windows server edition and your Tiguin Linux, graph the results and publish them.
As others have suggested, load each platform with the same test suite to avoid apple v/s orange comparison questions.
Look forward to seeing the graphical results.
Limesh Parekh
Mr. Arun,
Sure we will do it, I like the suggestion given by you. you are right, it will create more clarity of the matter. We had done that testing but the readings and graphs were not created, which we will create.
Keep watching, we will update this page (or some other page) soon.
Finally, Thank you very much for your valuable suggestions, Much appreciated.

Dear Sir
Currently my client us using WIndows Server 2003 TS with around 15 Thinclients (from another vendor) and 10 Fat clients Setup has been working smoothly for 5 years. It was not official S/W though. Main applications are MS Office,e-mail client (OE/MS Outlook) & offcourse Tally. Now we are planning to go for a new server. I was thinking of using Tinguin as TS /Application Server.
My queries are –
1. Which e-mail client will be available for Thinclients? Will I be able to locate the data file of each user at my wish?
2. In case current Excel sheets contain any macros, will they be working once we switch over to Openoffice?
3. Will there be need to change the Thin client hardware??
4. Which back up software can be used to back up data?
Thanks & Warm regards
